Thoughts of a Bibliophile

So I went to  V Festival this weekend and it was something I was really looking forward to as well as being slightly nervous about it as I have never really gone to a big music event before but I really had no reason to be at all! I was very lucky to get a weekend ticket for my birthday, the same as my friends, so we were able to see loads of different bands and types of music which was so fun! I have so many videos on my phone and snap chat I realise that I didn't actually take very many photos! I don't think I have the whole taking pictures when out and about for my blog yet but I'll keep working on it! But I was going through all the videos the night after and it was so great as I got to remember what it was like and rewatch some of my favourites again.

As usual, the weather wasn't the best and was probably the most typically British weather (raining one minute, sunny the next and then so windy your hair is now in a completely different style!) but I think that kind of just added to the whole festival experience! I wore my wellies the first day and then my boots the second which was actually really good as they add a few inches to my height so I was able to see a bit more!

So on day 1, we decided that we would be mainly watching the acts on Virgin Media stage, which is the main stage, as it was going to be Jess Glynne, then Bastille, then Sia and then Justen Bieber ( a pretty goo line up I would say!). We were able to make our way closer and closer to the front of the stage with each act which meant we were really close! Jess Glynne was one of my favourites and Bastille were also really great! Sia was also amazing with the dancers she had but I felt hat it would have been much better at a sit-down concert as you couldn't really dance to a lot of her songs and by this point, we had been standing for about 4 hours and could really do with a distraction! Justin Bieber, I have to say though was very disappointing! First of all, he was the only act that I saw to mime half his show, he also used the backing track for his London show ( this is Chelmsford, Essex and V Festival, not London) and he admitted to being hungover as well... Overall not the best performance (sorry to those who love Justen Bieber).

On day 2, we had a much different experience and got more of a feel for the festival and how busy it was as we were doing a lot more walking around and going from different stages. The first person we saw was Fleur East who was really good and great to dance to. We had a bit of lunch then went to see Lukas Graham who was another of my favourites! They were really good and I would definitely go to see them perform again! We also saw Tom Odell, Jake Bugg and Rihanna which was a great way to finish off the day!

There were so many people as V, all having a fab time getting all glittered up and dancing to their favourite songs or songs they had never heard of. It was such a fab two days and I hope that I get the opportunity to go again!

Have you been to any festivals this year?

So if you follow me on twitter or Instagram, you'll know that I recently went on holiday to Dubrovnik, Croatia and I have to say it was such a beautiful place, especially the old town. We went on a walk around the walls that surround the old town (which most of my photos are from) and the views from there were amazing. You can see the whole of the old town as well as miles of the crystal clear seas that were so blue. I think one of my favourite things is when the sun (or moon) reflects off the water, I think it is such a beautiful sight.

Another thing that I loved was the fact that there were so many cats around! I think the majority of them were sadly strays but I kid you not, we must have seen about 10-20 different cats around on the streets with a lot of them just coming up to you and following you down the street! They were so adorable and cute that I had to take just a few photos...

On the Thursday, we went on a three island cruise which was pretty cool. There are loads of islands around Dubrovnik and all along the coast of Croatia and I would have really like to see some more We went to Kolocep, Lopud, and Sipan. The first island we spent at one of their beaches which you had to walk to and it was a pretty long walk I have to tell you! We obviously didn't get to see much of the islands and I would love to go back to see some more as I know on one there was a Botanical garden which I would have loved to check out and take some photos as I think one of the big differences between the UK and places abroad is the wildlife. I was saying to my dad when I was there that I always know I am on holiday when all you can hear is the crickets surrounding you.

So anyway, that was a little bit on what we did but I hope you enjoy the photos and let me know what you think!

So when I first decided to do this post, I had big ideas that I would get amazing shots of all my outfits in the beautiful streets of the Old Town in Dubrovnik and it would be such an amazing post. However, it didn't quite turn out like that... I would go down in my nice outfit and completely freeze and feel way too self-conscious to stand and pose to get my photo taken whilst all these people walked past. I was really annoyed with myself as I really wanted to do this post but I finally decided that I would. It isn;t quite how I imagined as they are taken on the balcony of where we stayed. However, I am actually really pleased with how they turned out and by the end, I was haveing much more fun taking the photos so I hope you like this post!

I bought this first dress from Forever 21 for my 16th birthday party and I really love this dress. It was perfect for here as it is very loose which is exactly what you need in Croatia at this time of year as it is so hot there! It was about 30-31°C every day which is hot! I got my sunglasses from Top Shope and really love the gold detailing at the top of the frames, accentuating that cat eye look. Whenever I wear them I definitely feel much more glamorous I have to admit!

I got this jumpsuit last year in Miss Selfridge. It is a bit different to what I usually wear but I really love the open legs that make this outfit look quite effortless and elegant. I also really love the pattern - I feel like it shouldn't work but somehow it does and looks quite young and stylish.

Now I love this skirt so much! I got this entire outfit from Romwe.com which had a huge sale and this outfit cost just over £10. You will all know by now that I love a good sale and can't resist, especially if it involves a skirt this beautiful! When I wear it, it feels so beautiful and you can feel it move which is just fab! That's all I can say to describe it!

This is another dress which I recently got from forever 21 and as soon as I saw it I knew I wanted it! I love the bell sleeves that aren't too over dramatic but still look lovely and floaty. It is a little low cut so I have to be careful when wearing it but it doesn't look very revealing but looks great at night when going out fir dinner. I also love the colour; again it isn't something I would normally wear ( I am definitely a more monochrome girl) but I am actually loving being in more colourful clothes and taking a step out of my comfort zone.

This fifth and final outfit is another one I got last year and I was one of those dresses you immediately see and want. I literally walked into the shop and then went straight for this dress. I think it was the colours and the shape that I really loved. I actually forgot about this dress and when I found it again this summer it was like welcoming an old friend! Cheesy I know but what can I say?

And that is it! Those are the outfits that I wore in Dubrovnik in the baking heat and still managed to survive! Make sure you come back for Wednesday's post which will me a photo diary with my favourite photos from Dubrovnik - sadly it couldn't be every photo as there was about 300... So what is your favourite outfits to take on holiday?

Bullet Journal, Beauty and Brownies, Organisation, Blog Post, Ideas

I am very excited for today's post as it is a collaboration with the amazing Nicole from ThriftyVintageFashion. Nicole is one of my favourite bloggers and we met through the Teenage Blogger Program and if you haven't read her blog yet then definitely check it out! This post is going to be on how we organise ourselves to make sure we keep on top of things and don't miss out on anything! I'm going to mainly talk about my bullet journal which has become my new best friend and has helped me so much since I started it a few months back so let's begin!

Bullet Journal, Beauty and Brownies, Organisation, Blog Post, Ideas, Pinterest

If any of you haven't heard of a bullet journal I'll give a brief idea of what it is. It is basically a notebook where you can write down daily lists, weekly plans and any other lists or plans or things you want to remember down, all into one book so you know exactly what you are doing. I'm thinking of doing another post on how to set up a bullet journal so let me know if you think that would be a good idea! You can also jazz up your journal in whatever way you want - some prefer it quite plane so they can quickly jot things down, others like to use it as quite a creative space and use different colours and fonts etc; I wouldn't say my journal is the most creative but I do like spending a wee bit on making it more colourful and interesting to look at. Anyway, here is how I use my journal to organise my life.

Lists
Now these are my babies when it comes to trying to remember things. I have an awful memory, both long-term and short-term (you don;t know how many times I've walked from one room to the next and forgotten why I needed to go there in the first place) so having these have really helped me. Some examples of the lists I have in my journal are my Blogs list , which has lists of some of the blogs I want to check out, the ones I like and specific posts that I found helpful and will probably revisit ( you can see Nicole is one of the bloggers on here!). Another is my post ideas which I have divided into categories. This just helps me to write down any idea I have when I have them as I do forget them really quickly which is so annoying. It's normally later that night when I'm trying to get to sleep I remember that I thought of that really great post idea but have no idea what it was! Other examples would be my To Be Read page, a Twitter Chats page so I know all the times of the different chats, some wish lists and basically any other lists that I find helpful.

Weekly Planners & Calendar

Now when I first started my bullet journal, I decided that I wouldn't do weekly planners and just do bullet points for each day as I thought the planner would be to structured. However, I felt this way wasn;t helping me make progress throughout the day and decided to give the planner a shot and actually found them to be a lot more helpful. I've been trying out different ones to see which are the most helpful and I like to have different columns for different targets. So for example, I have one column for my to-do list, another for any important timing for that day (for example and eye appointment) and then another for my blogging to do list. This helps me to see everything very clearly and make sure I am on track to get everything I want to be completed for the day. In some of my planners, I also have a water count which is so helpful! I do not drink enough water and my mum is always saying I need to drink more so I decided to do this to help me and encourage me to drink more and I think it works! I started off doing entire pages dedicated to it but this was very time-consuming but I managed to fit it into some of my weekly planners. Here, I colour in on dot whenever I have 500ml. These water counts are for 4 pints per day which is apparently the recommended daily intake- please don't quote me on this as I did just google it and may not be correct but I feel it is a good starting point at least.
Another way of making sure I remember important dates is the calendar which has all the main dates that I need to remember. Here I only put the main dates and not the little appointments as I find it clogs it up and I just prefer it!

Bullet Journal, Beauty and Brownies, Organisation, Blog Post, Ideas, Monthly tracker

Monthly Tracker

This is what really has made a change to what I do. I suppose this isn't really organising my life but it definitely a way of making sure I get the little things, the things that I have to do every day, done. On here I put my daily goals (like 'read at least 30 pages') as well as things like 'make the bed' to give myself a little reminder to get these things done. And I use colour to check the different boxes so you can see when I haven't completed which bit and it can look pretty bad which encourages me to make sure I do it the next day!

And so that is basically it! These are a few ways I use my bullet journal to organise my life and make sure I don't miss anything important. Make sure you go over a read Nicole post here and have a look at what she uses to organise her life. Have you got a bullet journal? What are your favourite ways to organise?
