My Holiday Make Up Bag - What I Actually Wore

by - 17:30

Going on holiday I always over pack. Its doesn't matter if its clothes, makeup or even books, I always have one too many things that make my bag dangerously close to being overweight at check-in. I thought about doing this post before I went on holiday but felt as though it wouldn't be very truthful as I had no idea what I would actually take - I pretty much grabbed random things the day before I left. However, I thought I would do this post now as I actually know what I used and what I didn;t even look at. A holiday makeup bag will obviously change depending on your holiday but I was going to somewhere that was insanely hot and would spend a lot of the time lounging by the pool or sweating any makeup I had on, off. So I decided that I would have a pretty much makeup free week, give my skin a bit of time to breathe and let the sun get to it and I am so glad that I did!

Now I wouldn't say that I have awful skin but I don't have the best. I have a lot of very red, small spots that ever seem to go which leaves my skin very red and blotchy and of course I have the odd big red angry spot just to make it even better but I don't think my skin has ever been as clear as it is now for a few years at least. I feel that I can actually get away with not wearing foundation with only a little concealer which I am loving! I like the idea of only putting on a full face of makeup for special occasions or when I want to use a certain product, not because I feel like I have to.

So back to the post, here are a few products that I actually used when I am on holiday and I think you'll be shocked at how little makeup I actually used! I have done a few reviews on quite a lot of these products so if you would like to know more about any of them I shall link some of the posts below.

The first product is my favourite concealer, the Lasting Perfection concealer by Collection. I love this one as it is a really full coverage that still feels super light on the skin. I only used this for my under eyes and a dot here and there when we went out in the evening just to help brighten my face and feel a little extra special for going out.

The second product was the recent Soap and Glory, Sexy Mother Pucker lipstick I bought in the shade Super Nude which was perfect for wearing very little makeup. I did take the other shade I bought but I found that without a full face of makeup it was a bit strong and washed me out slightly.

The third and final (I know!) makeup product is my mini Benefit They're Real mascara. I took this mainly because of the size but I kind of regretted it as, although it is my favourite mascara, it isn't waterproof which meant I sometimes got a slight panda eye in the morning when I went for a swim.

And that is all the makeup I wore! I also took with me my L'Oreal Infallible 24H- Matte foundation but I never used it! I also took some powder but it was pretty useless as it just washed off or sweated off. I feel like this isn't a very long post so I though I would also include a few other products that I felt were a must have for my holiday.

I loved having my face wash with me on holiday and it felt so lovely, after a super hot day to be able to wash off the sweat and suncream off my face at night. My skin just felt so fresh after everything and it was something I was so grateful to have! I also had with me my mini Benefit set that I received for my birthday however I only used the face cream and eye cream. I felt that the sun with the added chlorine from the pool made my face feel very tight and dry so this was great to have with me. One thing that I really regret taking is some lip balm. It never really occurs to me but that same thing that happens to your skin, the dryness from the, also happens to your lips and they are so dry right now! I love my EOS lip balm which I thought I had taken with me but apparently, not so I will definitely be making sure I have that next time I go away! Now speaking of forgetting things, I normally forget these next two things but I actually remembered to bring them this time! I took this hairbrush from Hairon which I received in my July Glossy Box and it is so great for going on holiday. It is so small that it fits perfectly in y case but is also great at brushing my hair and detangling it after swimming in the pool. I also took the aftersun that I received from the June Glossy box which is so amazing! I didn't get burnt too bad but this just helped it to recover and turn a nice, normal colour quickly. I also love the smell so much!

So that is it! Those are pretty much all the beauty products that I used whilst on holiday! It's not much but I really didn't need anything else! What do you think are your must-have beauty products for a holiday in the sun?
